today...

...I burnt my hand, and felt sorry for myself. But really. it isn't too bad. and I am thankful that I am pretty heal-able. and that I won't be without a right hand for long.
Luke got a new computer. a Macbook pro. It is pretty exciting. I think he might even let me play with it before next year. Just kidding! I did get to a little tonight. (while he was on the phone)

I watched the Dick Van Dyke Show. It is pretty funny. Luke has netflix and some things you can watch instantly. that is one of them.

I did do other things too.
But these are the most interesting.
Have a marvelous evening.

Pumpkin bar cupcakes.

I like cupcakes. I've been making them a lot lately. They are just cute and fun and then you don't have to cut the cake.
Actually I like to cut cakes. with squiggles. although that seems to bother some people.
Maybe that is why I do cupcakes.
So I don't bother their rhythm of perfect symmetry.

They were good.

Pumpkin bar cupcakes.
makes 30 cupcakes.

2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup oil
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp rum ( optional )
1 3/4 cups squash or pumpkin ( also 15 oz)
2 cups flour ( half whole wheat works great)
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Mix sugar, egg, pumpkin, vanilla, rum and cinnamon. Beat up nicely then add the remaining ingredients. bake for 15-17 min at 350 Fahrenheit. you can also take the easy way out and make bars in a 10x15" pan for 25 min.

Cream cheese frosting.
4 oz cream cheese softened( half of a package)
1/4 cup soft butter.
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp rum
about 2 cups powdered sugar. mix in about 1 1/2 cups and then add until you have reached the desired consistency.

please do indulge. and enjoy.

A visit.

On Friday I rode down to visit the Edwards with the Cobbs.
It was a lovely quick trip.

Harrison and Jonathan playing Wii,
I played the sword fighting game with Gregory and an airplane flying one. :)
Travis had said that his arm hurt from fighting with Gregory, I didn't really believe him, but after I had lost (twice) to Gregory, I had a pretty sore arm too.

Mara and Margaret telling a story.
about princesses I believe.

Anna making marshmallows. They were quite delicious.

We also went sledding. It was a lovely lovely day.

January Babies

These two came early this year. But it was a wonderful day to do so, It is 36 Degrees. :)
The darker one is a boy and the lighter is a girl.
No names yet, so if you have one go ahead and tell us . ( no guarantees that we use it though)
ha! :)

A day in the life of Lucas ( at our house)

He gets here about noon, and we eat lunch pretty soon after he comes,

Usually he starts out in his chair and then he gets down, goes and sits with dad and then moves on to mom and so forth. :) This particular time he brought a friend.

Then comes nap time, which is actually pretty fun because we get to turn on the Christmas lights and read stories.

After naps we usually have a snack, He likes raisins, pickles, cookies, bread or most anything sweet. :)
And sometimes I will bake and he will lick the beaters. It is an important job. And by the way, He likes pink, and can say it quite proficiently.

Here he is with mom who happens to be one of his favorite people. If mom is around, I don't have much of a chance :)
Often he will get a book and grab mom to read it to him.

One thing I don't have a picture of here is him playing with trucks.
He usually has one handy all the time. taking them every where.
He plays with them all the time and he is a careful driver making sure not to crash, although if I happen play with him and crash my cars into his, he thinks it is the most hilarious thing.

Really, I love my job.

Pink Frosting Cupcakes.

I made them-

Because,

I wanted to take pictures of pink frosting.

That isn't the only reason.

I also like to eat pink frosting.

and so does Lucas.

The cake is OK. But really, I already regret that I didn't make it chocolate.
But alas. It is good to get out of the mold, If only to make it more enjoyable when you get back in.

scenes of summer...

Sometimes about in the middle of January, I get a little bit homesick for summer.
Sooo... to ease my pain I look at pictures of our lovely Minnesota in the summer/spring :)
Our road at the bottom of the hill.
A Mama goat and her twins.

The creek by Peggy's house.

Somewhere rural MN, When Luke and I took a different way home from Rochester.

In our back 40. actually, It is right behind the Raspberry Patch and I just like that rock. and birch trees. I do appreciate Birch trees.

Now, back to winter. I think I can handle it.

Megan's thoughts.

Last night I taught little kids class for the last time for a little bit,
I wasn't planning on teaching really so I decided to just read a few bible stories.
I have a pretty easy class to teach actually :)
Anyhow, We read the story about the blind beggar, you know-

~
As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging.
When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout,
"Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,
"Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Jesus stopped and said, "Call him."
So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you."
Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
~

When I finished reading, Megan said "I want to meet Jesus"
I told her, "Me too"
and we talked about how we can go to heaven and see Jesus there.

~

53. I am so thankful for salvation and being able to go to heaven to see Jesus.

That at the end of this life, it isn't the end.

a New Thing.

Well, I guess we haven't seen too much of Peggy posting on here. soooo....

I will reveal to you a marvelous thing....
Peggy's got her own blog!

Go forth and read.
